As the MCSE2003 is popular now, we only introduce exams for MCSE 2003 and MCSA 2003.
The fee for every exam in actual exam is $50; the fee for beta version is much cheaper, while the difficulty is uncertain.

If you pass the above seven exams, you can get those certifications: MCP MCSE2003 MCSA2003.
If you want to get MCDBA certification (based on SQL Server 2000), you need take one more exam: 070-229.
If you want to update MCSE 2000 to MCSE 2003 certification, you need take two more exams: 070-292 and 070-296.

It is the most common combination. It prepares for MCDBA to choose 228(see the second combination).

Note: It is impossible to compare MCSE security with CIW,CCSP,CISSP. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. It is hard to say which one is better and which one is worse. It is up to you to choose.
